Well, I sure never expected to see this happen. DuckTales on the NES was, to me, one of the best on the console. It helped define what made a 2D platformer fun, with lots of variation in level design, solid gameplay, good music and of course, likeable characters. As a kid, I found myself playing the game more than most others in my collection, and over the years, it’s held a place in my heart as a gaming classic.
And now… it’s being remastered. Developer WayForward is making it happen, with Capcom taking to the publishing. The game looks to be a proper homage to the original, with silky-smooth animations, colorful graphics and of course, Scrooge McDuck’s pogo attack. The official trailer can be seen below, but allow me to warn you: you will have the DuckTales theme stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Seriously.
The game will be hitting the Wii U, Xbox Live and PlayStation 3 this coming summer, available through each console’s respective marketplace. No word on pricing at this time.
