A desktop PC equipped with Intel’s latest high-end chip, the Core i7-6700K, as well as NVIDIA’s powerful GeForce GTX 980 sounds fantastic, doesn’t it? So what adjective could we possibly use to describe a notebook that has that kind of hardware under its hood? I am not sure I have one, but whatever it is would be describing Eurocom’s new Sky X9 gaming notebook.
Sky X9 is a notebook designed for those who want the absolute best performance while on-the-go. We’re talking a notebook that’s ideal for gaming and getting intensive work done at the same time – encoding, 3D rendering, whatever.
The default configuration is priced at $2,631 USD, and includes the i7-6700K and GeForce GTX 980M. You might notice that that is not the GTX 980 mentioned above, and that’s because it’s a rather expensive upgrade. About $700, in fact. Alternatively, and more attractive to me, would be going the 980M SLI route. Based on the performance I know of the 980M, it seems like the additional $84 (+$781 USD) spent would deliver an even bigger speed boost. A single 980M can deliver good 1440p gameplay, so I’d wager the same sort of gameplay could be had at 4K with two of these cards in SLI. On the desktop side, even a 980 Ti isn’t going to deliver what most would consider perfect 4K performance.
Alright, if none of that is enough, this notebook also supports up to four storage devices; 2 of which are SATA, and another 2 which are M.2. The display? It’s 17.3-inch and supports 1080p or 4K resolutions, as well as NVIDIA’s G-SYNC.
Other neat perks include a color calibration option, where Eurocom will save the .ICC profile to a flash drive, a fingerprint reader, and support for up to 64GB of RAM. By default, no OS is shipped with the notebook – a nice touch.
If you have deep pockets and demand ridiculous performance while on-the-go, look no further than this absolute beast.
