That’s right. I said router cooler, so don’t go all pretending like you’ve never once said, “Geez, I wish I could throw a fan in that thing!”, because I’m confident enough to say that most of us have been there. Even if a router isn’t giving us signs of failure, no one wants to feel like their hardware is running hot all the time, and thanks to no router I’ve ever seen including a fan, they’re a peripheral that tends to bask in their own heat all day.
For those who want to take their complaints against router heat to the next level, Evercool has come to the rescue with its “Dr. Cool”. While the focus is on router cooling, the company gives examples of places where heat can be dropped by using it, such as with netbooks, portable hard disks, tablet PCs and other devices. It’s even gone through the legwork of providing before and after temperature ratings for such products.
The idea behind the product is commendable. It’s designed to be a cooler (in the sense that it’s a fan with a chassis wrapped around it) that can be used to cool a multitude of devices, and thanks to its swinging arms, you can simply latch it on, and forget that it’s there. Well, if you can get past the fact that it will look like a crab is hugging your router.
To help promote Dr. Cool, Evercool has launched two YouTube videos; the first giving a quick overview of what it has to offer, and the second being an awkwardly funny video with the same goal.
So, who here’s getting one? ;-)
Dr. Cool is the World’s first specialized cooler for Routers and IP sharing devices with a unique design. It was conceived with three features in mind: branding, creative aesthetics and effective cooling. This last being where EVERCOOL pays special attention to, as well as taking into consideration user’s feedback. It has a white, delicate and compact appearance that makes it attractive to people’s eyes.
