Given all of the Linux-specific news that has come out of Valve in 2013, there’s been little doubt up to this point that the company has a strong belief that the OS is well-worth supporting. To help take things to the next level, though, it’s been announced today that the company has just joined the Linux Foundation, a non-profit devoted to the success of the operating system.
To celebrate the move, the Linux Foundation has posted a short video that features interesting quotes from both Valve’s CEO Gabe Newell and Linux creator Linus Torvalds:
Even as a big Linux fan, I would have never envisioned this kind of progression if someone had asked me if it were likely a couple of years ago. Ever since Windows 8’s launch, though, Valve has made it clear that it favors the things Linux offers over Microsoft’s OS, so for all of those Linux fans who’ve held out hope that gaming would improve on their OS of choice, things are getting exciting.
