The moment Borderlands fans have been waiting for has arrived; the Borderlands 2 launch trailer is upon us. Don’t get too excited about the term “launch” here, however, as the game isn’t exactly right around the corner, but rather slated for release on September 18 in the US and the 21st worldwide. And boy, is that going to be a long wait.
The video shows off the new cast of characters (Salvador, Maya, Axton and Zero) and amps us up to the fact that there will be an uncountable number of weapons in the game, a new ride and of course, all new areas. There’s even promise of more “wub wub”! As seen in the capture below, the skill system looks to have been improved a bit. Each class still have three trees each, but under each is a special skill that only one credit can go into (eg: Siren has a skill that can instantly revive a downed player).
One of the highlights of the original was its vast gun system, where you were unlikely to find two weapons exactly alike. In the video, we’re told that “87 bazillion guns just got bazillionder”, and the chests that these and ammo are found in look far different than those in the first game. More can be seen in the trailer, so it’s just a must-watch.
Pre-orders on the game have begun, and those who do that get a Golden Key (unlocks a rare item in a chest), Vault Hunter’s Relic (improves loot) and Gearbox Gunpack (unique guns to kick-start your progress). Those interested in pre-ordering can do so here.
This wait… is going to be tough.
