In a move that some might consider a sign of the inevitable demise of Google+, Google has just killed off one of the service’s integral features: Google+ Photos.
With the launch of Google Photos a couple of months ago, the writing really did seem to be on the wall for Google+ Photos. At the end of the day, Google Photos offers a similar (but even richer) feature set as Google+ Photos, but is unhinged from a social networking service. With Photos, users will be able to stockpile their images and take advantage of perks like editing and auto-grouping.
Google’s Photos App
If you used Google+ Photos, you don’t have to worry about your collection, as it’ll be transferred over to Google Photos automatically. If you used Google+ Photos while on-the-go, you’ll need to go snag theĀ new app.
I wasn’t too familiar with Google+ Photos, but it did seem to have a fair fan base. It sure wouldn’t be the first time Google killed off a fan favorite.
