I don’t own a TV, and to be honest, I don’t think I need a TV. But recently, I have felt a bit of a bug… perhaps I do want a TV. Movies I’ll never watch would look so good, as would the sports games coming across my non-existent cable subscription.
Today, I think Samsung has sealed the deal. I need a TV, and it has to be its brand-new 4K curved beaut, coming in at 105 inches.
At that size, who doesn’t need this? It’s a monster TV that simply envelopes you as you sit there and watch that lush 8 million pixel Blu-ray. What really strikes me about this TV is its affordable pricing, at about $120,000. Too pricey? I think your Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet can wait until next year. After all, it doesn’t support 4K.
Outside of the obvious, one thing that strikes me as interesting about this TV is that it’s greater than 4K. The product page says that it supports a resolution of 5120×2160, which I suppose would be “5K”. I prefer to call it as it is, “11 million pixels”. That’s the same number of pixels as 3x 1440p monitors in a surround configuration. Hot damn.
The inevitable question: Who’s getting one?
