No surprise here, Gran Turismo 5 has been further delayed from the November 2nd release date, the now umpteenth delay for the GT5 release. While Polyphony Digital and Kazunori Yamauchi will often cite ‘perfection’ as the excuse, it’ll only get you so far. GT5 Prologue was released way back in 2007 and nearly 4 years later, we are still without the full release.
Gran Turismo 5, the fifth game in the popular racing series, was revealed to the world back at E3 2006. While this isn’t quite the same time scale as a popular blonde haired duke, it does bring into question the quantity of delays. The Prologue version has sold very well with multiple updates, but the longer the game is delayed, the higher the expectations. With the addition of 3D stereoscopic and the possibility of integration with the Playstation Eye, GT5 is becoming more a tech demo for Sony than a real game.
The blog announcement from Sony states that the game will be coming ‘this holiday season’. The interpretation of this could mean between now and January… or next Christmas if you are feeling cynical. In any case, Sony will be providing more information in the near future. Lets just hope that the wait is worth it.
We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season. We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches. We’ll have more information for you in the near future.
