So it may not be Half-Life 3, but at least we have something that’s in the ballpark. Valve has officially approved and is offering a fan-made expansion for its incredibly popular Half-Life 2, the game with what could have the most significant cult following of any PC game, ever.
The game begins in the Nova Prospekt prison in the Half-Life world. Gordon Freeman is beginning to be overrun by soldiers in the prison. His Vortigaunt friends come to his aid thanks to a long-forgotten ally. From the trailer, the game looks beautiful, and “era-correct” to Half-Life 2.
This expansion claims to be substantial, highly polished, comparable in length to Half-Life 2 Episode One, which means it will be a great value. This was developed by one man, 25 year old Richard Seabrook.
The new expansion is called “Prospekt” and will be available in February of this year, you can even pre-order the game now, just follow this link. At only $8.99 for the pre-order price, this is a no-brainer. Some may shy away from a fan-made expansion, but if Valve has approved it, you know it is going to be worth buying…and since it is new, official Half-Life content, of course you are going to buy it.
