Halo Infinite Will Have A PC Version, With Hints Suggesting It Will Be The Best Version

When Microsoft introduced its Xbox Play Anywhere feature a couple of years ago, did you expect that it’d lead to a proper Halo releasing to the PC? Sure, the PC has had Halo before, but that was ages ago, and the result wasn’t great. Halo Infinite isn’t going to suffer the same fate, if 343 Industries delivers on its promises.
During an official stream last week, 343 went into some decent detail about what Infinite will be on PC, which is a “first-class citizen”. As a collective audience, we went quite a while without Halo on the PC (excluding the RTS Halo Wars), but much like Destiny 2, Infinite won’t be ignorant of different hardware configurations and needs of its PC gamer fans.
Presumably, the perks on PC would include ultra-wide monitor support, no cap on the frame rate, and ample control over graphics settings. Quicker load times could also be expected, and while mouse and keyboard would undoubtedly be the choice of most PC gamers, it seems very likely Infinite would also support gamepad on the PC.
The PC isn’t the only platform being infused with special Halo Infinite goodness. After countless fans understandably complained about the lack of split-screen support with Halo 5, it makes a triumphant return with the next game, once again supporting 4 players.
There’s unfortunately little we know about the story in Halo Infinite, although it has been made clear that it will focus greatly on Master Chief, and all hints point to it potentially being one of the best story archs in the series. That sentiment applies to other facets of the game as well, including the incredibly popular online multiplayer. It’s only a matter of time before PC gamers will be able to hop into the same Halo world as their Xbox brethren, but PlayStation gamers yearning for access to the series will still be forced to watch from the outside.
Based on all we know right now, it seems likely that Halo Infinite will release in (later) 2020, not next year. Anyone who’s searched out for some Infinite media are probably unsurprised, as even the reveal trailer (above) isn’t representative of the gameplay, but it still does enough to make you wish that 2020 wasn’t so far off!
