With its recent decision to remain in the PC business, HP proves today that it hasn’t been resting over the course of the past few months. The company just announced some interesting notebook models, but perhaps the most noteworthy is the Folio ‘Ultrabook’ that breaks away a bit from tradition. It’s not the thinnest Ultrabook out there, but HP designed it to be the “best”.
It seems that where Ultrabooks are concerned, a brushed metallic look is where it’s at. We saw it with ASUS’ recently-launched Zenbook, and now with HP’s Folio. At 3.3lbs, it’s not quite as light as ASUS’ Zenbook or the MacBook Air, but HP’s goal here was to develop a notebook that was as functional as possible in as little space as possible. Businesspeople are a huge part of the company’s vision.
The Folio includes 4GB of RAM, Intel’s Core i5 processors, and features an HD “BrightView” display and HP TrueVision HD webcam. Though seemingly targeted at businesspeople, it comes equipped with Windows 7 Home Premium, although Professional is an option. As has become the norm with Ultrabooks, this one includes a 128GB SSD – that’s a 128GB SSD on an $899 notebook. It’s great that we’ve finally reached the point where SSDs are not uncommon in notebooks like these, and things should only get better as time goes on.
