Kingston has just updated its business-class SSD line to include a mammoth 960GB model. Called the KC310, Kingston’s latest SSD includes an eight-channel Phison PS3110-S10 quad-core controller to help deliver up to 550MB/s on read, and 520MB/s on write.
Admittedly, I tend to be more interested in IOPS performance than I am throughput, and the KC310 delivers far better performance than you’d expect a “business” offering to: 99,000 read and 89,000 write in 4K sequential tests, and 96,000 read and 88,000 write in 4K random tests. For those who want to compare this new SSD to their own, the KC310 scores 80,700 in PCMark Vantage’s storage test.
Because the KC310 is a business-class SSD, it boasts a couple of unique features, such as the ability to work well with client management software. All of the KC300 series SSDs support TCG Opal 2.0, IEEE 1667, and Microsoft eDrive. More common features include SMART support and advanced power management.
We’re not sure what the KC310 is going to be priced at, but we wouldn’t expect it to take too long to hit e-tail. As seen in the shot above, it can be purchased as part of an “upgrade” kit, but can also be purchased as a standalone drive.
