Known Apple parts suppliers are expected to begin mass production of larger displays for the new flagship phone for Apple. The timing with these reports would be consistent with the fruit company’s normal release time period of fall. According to Reuters, Apple is focusing its efforts on releasing two new iPhone sizes – 4.7” and a 5.5” model.
Rumors are surfacing that the 5.5” model may not happen at the same time as the 4.7” model, as production issues have been reported. The Wall Street Journal reported that the larger of the two iPhones were still in “preliminary development” while the smaller model was already being prepped for mass production, so it is highly likely that Apple will not be launching the new phones simultaneously.
What do you think? One of the biggest gripes by many smart phone users is that iPhone has too small of a display – others say that they like the smaller display as it doesn’t take up a lot of real estate in your pocket, and one-handed operation of the phone is possible. Apple has always defended its unwillingness to upgrade its screen size as it wants the phone to be able to be operated entirely one-handed. Last year when I had the HTC One, I found that I really missed being able to use my device one-handed – not to mention the feeling of a giant phone in my pocket.
