Since its introduction two years ago, NVIDIA has developed GeForce Experience to become a full-fledged suite of tools that can prove useful for virtually any gamer. In some cases, it might even replace tools you’ve relied on for years. It can record video, share that video, stream to a SHIELD, and of course, optimize your games.
With its latest beta, it’s clear that NVIDIA wants to make sure no one can go without GFE, because some of the features added are downright awesome. Such as game-sharing – one that might not explain itself too well by name alone.
Have you ever been left frustrated at a complicated part in a game? Chances are good that you have. Chances are also good that you may have known someone who would have been able to help you conquer it. But unless that person was able to drive over to your house, it didn’t matter.
Believe it or not, the latest GFE beta can help in that situation. With it, you’re able to literally share your screen with a friend and let them take over the controls (or just watch and give you advice). For them, it’d be like playing a cloud game – at least, as long as your Internet connection is at least 10Mbps upstream.
Seriously – that’s a freaking cool feature.
Also worthwhile is a long overdue overlay. At any point (desktop or game), you can hit Alt + Z to bring up an overlay that lets you quickly save the last 5-20 minutes of gameplay, manually start a record, stream to the Internet, edit and upload clips to YouTube, and of course, share your game with the aforementioned feature.
At this point, GFE offers so many features, it’s hard to envision what it might add next. I’d always raise my hand for “FPS logging” a la Fraps, and it really wouldn’t surprise me if that did in fact come at some point.
