The Techgage staff have had some “spirited” debates about pre-built, stand-alone NAS systems versus ones built ourselves. Thanks to Lian Li, those who would rather build a NAS themselves from hand-picked components are sure to be happy with the announcement of the PC-Q26 mid-tower NAS chassis.
The silver or black aluminum PC-Q26 supports mini-ITX motherboards, CPU coolers up to 150mm tall, and GPUs and power supplies up to 190mms long, but that’s about it for restrictions. Storage is wide open with room for up to 10 3.5″ drives, and a single 2.5″ drive at the bottom of the drive cage. It comes prefitted with a hotswap backplane for two drives, with the option to purchase additional backplanes.
For cooling there’s three preinstalled 120mm intake fans at the front with magnetic dust filters, and a 120mm exhaust fan on the top. If more cooling is needed there’s the option to install a single 120mm fan on the left side panel and a single 80mm fan on the rear.
The pop-off side panels and tool-less installation should make for easy access and hardware changes, and the plastic cable management clips on the rear of the drive cage should keep cables neat and out-of-the-way.
Available now, the PC-Q26 is retailing for $189.99 USD, which comes with a 2 year manufacturer guarantee.
