If you’ve ever needed to take your system on the road, you know how much of a pain it can be. Moving the system, let alone finding room for it in a packed car can be a daunting task. It’s for this reason that more and more people are jumping ship and building a small form factor system. They’re easy to carry around, take up very little room, and hardware manufacturers are finding ways to pack more of a punch into such a small package.
To help keep all of the bits and pieces contained, Lian Li has launched its PC-TU100 mini-ITX chassis and touts it as the basis for the ultimate LAN box. While smaller than the PC-TU200, this one can hold up to three 2.5″ drives (if a slim optical drive is not installed), video cards up to 190mm long and SFX power supplies up to 170mm. As mentioned, the PC-TU100 only supports mini-ITX motherboards, so a micro-ATX LAN box is out of the question.
The side panels feature a release latch for quick access, and the front I/O panel consists of two USB 3.0 ports, audio connections, and dual LED illuminated power button. The whole thing is cooled by a 120mm intake fan and vents on the side and rear panels to help remove warm air, but possibly the best feature is that the entire chassis only weighs 3.9lbs. To help put this into perspective, the steel, windowed side panel of my personal system weighs 3.4lbs by itself!
Available in black and silver, the PC-TU100 should hit North American shores in late June/Early July and will set you back $109 USD.
