Improving on an incredible product can be quite the challenge, no matter who you are, or how strong of an Engineering/Design team you have. Logitech is no different, and it is always on the cutting edge of innovation, design, style, and function with its peripherals and other products as well.
At CES this year, Logitech released a refresh to the G502 Proteus Core gaming mouse. The refresh, dubbed the G502 Proteus Spectrum, is the same exact mouse as the G502 Proteus Core, with one major revision: RGB lighting.
I reviewed this mouse’s predecessor in June 2014, you can read the full review of that mouse here. Just to give you a brief synopsis of what this mouse has to offer, besides the RGB lighting:
- Logitech G Delta Zero Optical Sensor: Incredibly accurate, offering a DPI range from 200 to 12,000 with zero sensor acceleration, zero smoothing, filtering, or pixel rounding.
- Surface Tuning Calibration: Using the Logitech G software, you actually calibrate the mouse to the surface or mouse pad you are using, giving you the best performance and accuracy possible.
- Weight and Balance Tuning: You can add up to five 3.6g weights in different spots on the mouse, giving you the ability to fine tune the weight/load on the mouse.
- 11 Programmable Buttons: The Logitech G software makes programming these an absolute breeze to program, and assign with different profiles.
- RGB Lighting: This feature gives you literally, 16.8 million color choices for the illumination on this mouse.
- Dual-mode Hyper Fast Scroll Wheel: You have a normal scroll wheel, and with the click of a button, you have a free-wheeling, almost frictionless scroll wheel, especially handy in gaming, or examining log files that are thousands of lines long.
- Comfortable Shape: This mouse features textured rubber grips in all the right places, and the button layout is perfect, all the buttons are able to be comfortably, easily pressed. They quickly become second nature to reach and use, right when you need them.
The MSRP of this mouse is $79.99 and can be purchased from most major retailers. For more details and pre-ordering, check out Logitech’s website.
