Nikon Canada Announces COOLPIX S200

Mississauga, ON, February 20, 2007 – Nikon Canada Inc, today introduced the COOLPIX S200. Packing style and advanced functions into an ultra-slim design, this compact digital camera demonstrates the superior quality COOLPIX owners have come to expect from Nikon.

Combining 7.1 megapixels and a 38-114mm (35mm equivalent) 3x Zoom-Nikkor lens in an ultra-thin 18.5mm body, the COOLPIX S200 captures everything from panoramic landscapes to close-up portraits with outstanding clarity and true-to-life colour. Electronic Vibration Reduction (e-VR) compensates for camera shake or movement by unsteady subjects to achieve sharp results.

Anti-Shake results in carefree shooting by automatically activating e-VR, setting the optimal ISO level and employing BSS (Best Shot Selector) to select the sharpest image from up to 10 sequential shots. High-Sensitivity mode leverages the camera’s extended light sensitivity range by choosing the optimal setting up to ISO 1000, a major benefit when shooting fast-moving subjects or when shooting in lower light.

The COOLPIX S200’s large, bright 2.5-inch LCD makes it easy to compose, navigate menus and playback images. Anti-reflection coating makes menus and images easily visible, even in bright sunlight. The camera’s easy-to-navigate menu interface offers illustrated help dialogues, while providing easy access to Nikon’s Image Innovations. The Face-priority AF** feature automatically detects and focuses on human faces in the frame, while In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically overcomes the red-eye effect sometimes caused by flash photography. Nikon’s D-Lighting feature can rescue underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight by creating a copy of the image and adding light and detail where necessary, while leaving properly exposed areas alone.

COOLPIX S200 comes packaged with Nikon’s exclusive PictureProject software, simplifying the transfer, organization, editing and sharing of photos. PictureProject software is powerful, yet exceptionally easy to use.
