Nikon Canada Announces COOLPIX S50C and COOLPIX S50
Outstanding style with state-of-the-art technology
Mississauga, ON, February 20, 2007 – Nikon Canada Inc. today introduced the COOLPIX S50C and COOLPIX S50, two outstanding compact digital cameras with stylish wave-surface designs, offering a range of advanced functions The COOLPIX S50C has the added convenience of built-in Wi-Fi capability for wireless transfer of images to a computer.
The COOLPIX S50c and COOLPIX S50 feature powerful 7.2 megapixel resolution to produce sharp images that retain clarity even when significantly enlarged. They also incorporate a “right-angle” optical Vibration Reduction (VR) lens for pleasing performance at 38-114mm (35mm equivalent) with minimal dimensions. The 3x Zoom-Nikkor lenses make it easy to compose a variety of shots ranging from tight portraits to broad landscapes.
Incorporating lens shift VR into slim dimensions, the COOLPIX S50c and COOLPIX S50 produce sharper, more accurate shots. Both models offer high sensitivity up to ISO 1600, resulting in more natural looking photos in lower light. A handy Anti-Shake button simultaneously activates lens shift VR, High-Sensitivity mode and BSS (Best Shot Selector) for optimal results.
Composition, menu navigation and image playback are easy on the bright 3.0-inch wide-viewing angle LCD monitor with anti-reflection coating. The sizeable screen adds to the enjoyment of Nikon’s Pictmotion function, allowing users to select their favourite movies and images and combine them with music and visual styles, creating an entertaining movie that can be played right in the camera. Pictmotion now also features new VGA quality for a clearer display when viewing the video through TV output.
Both the COOLPIX S50c and COOLPIX S50 include a the One-touch Portrait button, which provides direct access to Nikon Image Innovation features designed to improve image quality in-camera. The Face-priority AF** feature automatically detects and focuses on human faces in the frame, while In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically overcomes the red-eye effect sometimes caused by flash photography. Nikon’s D-Lighting feature can rescue underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight by creating a copy of the image and adding light and detail where necessary, while leaving properly exposed areas alone.
Nikon’s exclusive PictureProject software is packaged with both models, making it easier than ever to transfer, organize, edit and share photos with family and friends. PictureProject software is powerful, yet exceptionally easy to use.
