Noctua’s no stranger to helping its customers out when a new major processor architecture hits the market, and with AMD’s upcoming Ryzen, not a thing has changed. The company has just announced that its customers who opt to upgrade to Ryzen will be able to claim a free AM4 mounting kit upgrade – as long as you’re able to provide a proof-of-purchase of AM4 motherboard or processor – a fair proposition.
The company is going to be offering two different ‘SecuFirm2’ kits, with the NM-AM4-UxS supporting the NH-U14S, NH-U12S, and NH-U9S. The NM-AM4, by contrast, supports most of the coolest Noctua has released since 2005: NH-C12P, NH-C12P SE14, NH-C14, NH-C14S, NH-D14, NH-D14 SE2011, NH-D15, NH-D15S, NH-D9L, NH-L12, NH-L9x65, NH-U12, NH-U12F, NH-U12P, NH-U12P, SE1366, NH-U12P SE2, NH-U9, NH-U9B, NH-U9B SE2, and NH-U9F. The coolers that didn’t make the cut are the NH-L9i/NH-L9a low-profile models, although Noctua says the L9a will likely receive an upgrade kit later this year.
To claim the free mount, you must take a picture (or scan) of your receipt that shows you purchased either an AMD AM4 processor or motherboard, and another photo of the receipt for your Noctua cooler. If you don’t happen to have that receipt anymore (and chances are good you wouldn’t), you can simply write your name on a piece of paper and pose it with the cooler, as a different form of proof.
In the event you need the mounting kit fast, or you haven’t yet purchased an AM4 product, Noctua will soon be selling the kits at etailers like Amazon soon for $7.90 USD (€7.90).
