When NVIDIA first unveiled its VR Funhouse game at the launch of its first Pascal-based GeForce graphics cards, few people probably realized the amount of support the company would be putting behind it. For starters, the game is free and also quite good. What wasn’t obvious at first is that NVIDIA would be making VR Funhouse modular, allowing other developers to enhance what it created.
NVIDIA makes that possible with the VR Funhouse Mod Kit, and to show off what it’s capable of – and what other developers are capable of – it’s teaming up with both Valve and Epic Games to hold a mod-off, or “Game Jam”. It happens soon, too, at the end of the month, and takes place in a very unique location: aboard the MS Bleichen, in Hamburg, Germany.
NVIDIA has already chosen teams to compete here, but if you happen to be in the area, you can still register and attend to watch. And, you’ll definitely want to, as all three companies will be raffling off cool prizes for those attending in person. If you’ll be in the area, you can register right here.
We’d assume that whatever gets created during this event will be made available to those who can play VR Funhouse, but in the meantime, if you own a Vive and haven’t given the game a go, you have nothing to lose.
