With the highly-anticipated beta of Tom Clancy’s The Division launching next weekend, NVIDIA has decided to give us some details on things we should be aware of. First and foremost, it’s recommended that a GeForce GTX 970 is owned to run the game at 1080p with good detail, while a 980 Ti is recommended for 1440p. It’s interesting to note that these suggestions don’t come from NVIDIA itself, but instead Ubisoft. Let’s hope that The Divison becomes one of the rare Ubisoft titles to not cap the framerate (it doesn’t make for a great benchmark when it is.)
Most people who will be playing in The Division‘s beta will have procured their access through pre-ordering, but NVIDIA notes that its GeForce Experience members have had a second option: be registered through GFE and own at least a GTX 970. We believe that the time to access the beta this way has passed, so this could be a good argument for why signing up for GFE is a good idea.
If NVIDIA’s pushing a particular game title, you can be sure that it either runs extremely well on its hardware, or utilizes some of its technologies. In The Division‘s case, the game features use of both NVIDIA HBAO+ and PCSS. It’s interesting that TXAA isn’t mentioned, as that was featured in both Tom Clancy’s: Splinter Cell Blacklist and Rainbow Six Siege. For that matter, wouldn’t it have been great if Ubisoft added some other lesser-used APIs, like FlameWorks or even FaceWorks? Or heck – PhysX?
Oh well, we can’t have it all.
NVIDIA notes that it will have a Game Ready driver in time for the beta launch.
