If you’re a GeForce gamer anxious to load up Watch Dogs 2 today, be sure to first hop on over to GeForce.com and grab the latest driver, versioned 376.09. In addition to optimizations for Ubisoft’s latest, this driver also enhances performance in Steep and Dead Rising 4 (TIL: there’s a Dead Rising 4!). Further, War Thunder gains support for NVIDIA’s robust game screenshot solution, Ansel.
There might have been a lot of skepticism surrounding the original Watch Dogs, but it sure hasn’t managed to impact the success of its sequel. So far, the game is enjoying reviews of 80~85%, and while those would be for the console versions, we hope that it will carry on through to the PC version.
As you can probably see from the video above, NVIDIA has a number of technologies infused into Watch Dogs 2, including HBAO+, HFTS (hybrid shadows), PCSS, TXAA, and, in the near-future, it’ll also support Ansel.
NVIDIA recommends at least a GeForce GTX 1070 for playing this game at Very High detail with 1080p resolution, which goes to show just how brutal this game can be on hardware (hopefully for good reasons and not lack of optimization). For 1440p, a GTX 1080 is recommended. No mention is made of 4K, but given what 1440p requires, I’d wager it’d require at least two GTX 1070s in SLI. That’s feasible, right?
