Out of nowhere (or, it was at least unknown to me), NVIDIA released a brand-new version of its GeForce Experience application yesterday. This isn’t just some standard update: it’s a complete overhaul, a “building from the ground up”. For that reason, it’s also been given a new major version number: 3.0.
I’ve liked GeForce Experience ever since NVIDIA pushed the first version out, but I would have never called it perfect. The biggest issue was speed; it could take upwards of 15 seconds to fully load and populate its features. I don’t think NVIDIA was oblivious to that, as GFE 3.0 took that into consideration. At the same time, the entire interface has been remodeled, and new features added, to boot.
Pretty, isn’t it? In personal tests, GFE 3.0 still takes longer to load than I’d like it to (NVIDIA claims it’s 3x faster), but I’m willing to chalk that up to the fact (and benefit) that the application can do a lot. In testing this release, I actually found recording in-game video to be easier than before. That’s not hard, though, as sometimes the video recording feature didn’t even want to work before. Hopefully that particular bug is long behind us.
Related to the video capture, GFE now supports up to 4K video with frame rates up to 60 FPS. From within the interface, you can upload to services like Twitch and YouTube at the best quality possible, and even trim from within the interface if you need to.
NVIDIA aims GFE to become an all-in-one hub, offering rich functionality while also keeping you engaged, and informed. You can expect lots of giveaways to be offered through the GFE interface, as well as links to guides and other important information.
