Summer – the time for being outside, catching some rays, getting exercise and… PC gaming? With its latest GeForce beta driver, NVIDIA “gets you ready for summer gaming”, and really, what sort of person would you be to refuse the company’s gift? Versioned 304.48, performance boosts of up to 18% are promised for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, Battlefield 3, Dragon Age II and Batman: Arkham City.
Further, other enhancements have been made to the control panel. You’re now able to enable MSAA in Diablo III, L.A. Noire, Rayman Origins and The Secret World, and for those conquering worlds in Star Wars: The Old Republic, you’ll be happy to know that ambient occlusion can now be enabled.
Some important fixes have been implemented as well. A performance bug introduced to Total War: SHOGUN 2 thanks to a recent patch has been remedied, and a VSync-related stuttering issue has also been tackled (I am not quite sure what this problem was). Another strange issue where factory-overclocked 600-series GPUs would downclock themselves to far-too-low speeds has also been corrected.
As always, NVIDIA has posted a rather in-depth look at the latest driver on its GeForce.com website, so hit it up below if you’re still not convinced that it’s worth taking the time to download.
