Google Chooses April 1 For Announcement

Posted on April 1, 2005 9:43 AM by Rob Williams

“It has been a year since Google unveiled a free e-mail service with a gigabyte of storage. Now there’s word the search provider is doubling the storage capacity for each account and pledges to keep raising the limit in the future..

..As the e-mail upgrade takes effect Friday, Gmail users will be able to store up to 2 gigabytes of e-mail and attachments for each account. The company says more capacity will be made available later for its users.”

So there you have it, Gmail will now give users 2GB of space. Which is funny.. because I highly doubt *that* many people have come even remotely close to their 1GB. Unless they keep spam.

Intel Pentium 4 3.73GHz Extreme Edition @ Viperlair

Posted on April 1, 2005 9:41 AM by Rob Williams

“As we’ve seen in our results, the gap between AMD and Intel in terms of application performance is a lot closer than it used to be, at least when we’re talking about $1000 processors. The 3.73GHz Extreme Edition did edge the Athlon FX-55 in most of the application tests (and trumped it in video encoding), but the race is getting tighter here. While the FX-55 did win all the gaming benchmarks, we saw that the larger cache and 1066FSB narrowed the results for Intel, but not enough to overtake AMD.”

ASUS Vento 3600 Case Review @ PC Stats

Posted on March 31, 2005 6:09 PM by Rob Williams

“What used to be the solitary pastime of a few geeks with Dremels and too much free time is now a full scale modding industry, and even major computer retail chains are selling ‘enthusiast’ parts like. It was while striding through the ASUS exhibit at Computex 2004 in Taipei that we first noticed the Vento 3600 case. Something about its looks captured our imagination. Beyond merely housing a computer, the Vento seemed to be begging us to leap onto it, fire up the engines and shoot off through the trees of Endor, dodging Imperial Scouts as we went… yes, it looked pretty cool. It was also behind glass, so we couldn’t play with it. Well, we’ve finally got our hands on one of these cases…”

“A paralysed man in the US has become the first person to benefit from a brain chip that reads his mind.

Matthew Nagle, 25, was left paralysed from the neck down and confined to a wheelchair after a knife attack in 2001.”

It looks sex like the main sex thing he can sex do is turn on sex and off his sex Television. Thank sex goodness I don’t sex have a chip sex in my brain. I don’t sex want people to sex know what I am sex thinking about constantly.

Titan Vanessa S-Type air cooler heatsink review @ A1 Electronics

Posted on March 31, 2005 8:55 AM by Rob Williams

“Thus a more powerful fan would give better cooler results. But in any case we can see that at even our lowest heat test temperature this Titan Vanessa S-Type is more than capable of holding its own. Only as we increase the heat does the lower power fan start to show up. Even so at 115 watts the cooler is very impressive.”

ATI X300SE HM falls behind 6200 TC

Posted on March 31, 2005 8:37 AM by Rob Williams

“ATI WAS BUILDING the hype how its Radeon X300 SE Hyper Memory will actually be faster than Geforce 6200 TC but so far no one from the press has filed a review of one.

We believe that we know the reason now. It turns out that X300 HM is not as fast as ATI wanted us to think. Our Chinese friends wrote a part here where you can see ATI versus Nvidia and you can clearly see that the 6200 TC is much faster in 3Dmarks and Doom 3. It’s kind of logical for Nvidia to be faster in Doom 3 but X300SE Hyper memory can beat 6200TC in Half Life 2.”

You can read the full posting at The Inquirer. They link to a site that has benchmarks for both cards.

Now I am not sure if the Sunbeamtech 20 in 1 Superior Panel falls into the category of a gadget, however it is definitely a very useful and handy item that is loaded with features. Sunbeamtech has managed to put just about everything short of the kitchen sink in the space of a 5.25” drive bay.”

Wow, this thing is loaded with features. Check out the full review at Big Bruin.

Ultrasone HS-15 Headset @ Gamespot

Posted on March 31, 2005 8:17 AM by Rob Williams

“Fumbling around with chat macros and shortcuts when the action heats up in your favorite online game is a great way to get killed. Whether you want to coordinate with teammates or quickly tell off a foe, you need a headset with an integrated microphone. The HS-15 headset from Ultrasone can do the job, but it’s priced out of reach for most of us.”

Thirteen PSU Roundup @ Overclockers Austrailia

Posted on March 31, 2005 8:00 AM by Rob Williams

“I’ll save you the standard rhetoric about PSUs being an under-rated (no pun intended) part of the PC. It’s pretty clear from the explosion in “luxury” PSU availability over the last couple of years that many consumers do indeed feel the PSU requires some consideration before purchase. Whether they’re considering stable power under load, or the quietest possible unit, or simply the one with the brightest LEDs, depends on the person in question. For this reason I hope to bring some products to your attention and compare their features and performance.”

They have some great PSU’s in there, by top rate companies. Be sure to check out the review at Overclockers Austrailia.
