The upcoming self-titled Need for Speed is a game with huge ambitions. As the twenty-first in the series, Ghost Games has been working hard to make sure it’s one that counts, and given that it’s an open-world game, I couldn’t be more excited for it as a NFS fan. So, it was with a bit of disappointment that I discovered the game was going to be pushed back until the spring on the PC, but, it does appear to be for good reason.
In an official blog post, Ghost Games writes, “At Ghost, we’re united by one common passion… to deliver the best Need for Speed experience possible.” Yeah, yeah. How many times have we heard that from a game developer that didn’t manage to deliver? Maybe Ghost could set an example, though, because what it writes next sounds great:
This decision on PC gives us the necessary development time to increase the visuals that we can deliver on PC. We will also include content updates that will have been released on console up to that time, making them available to all PC players from day one.
Improved visuals, no forced 30 FPS cap, and a whack of content that would otherwise have trickled out over many months? This sounds very un-EA like, doesn’t it? Either way, I’ll take it.
