SAPPHIRE Technology, best known as a manufacturer and global supplier of graphics solutions has just announced plans to seriously address the motherboard market with the introduction of high end Intel platforms.Sapphire, one of AMD’s largest GPU partners has decided to step up its game by launching two new motherboards. In stark contrast to their usually subdued offerings, these models will focus on the enthusiast market. Both will carry the Pure Black name and feature Intel’s X58 and P67 chipsets.
The X58 board will feature the usual bells and whistles currently available such as triple channel DDR3, SATA 6Gbps and USB 3.0 support, 3 PCI-E 2.0 slots to run GPUs at x16/x8/x8 and 8-channel audio connections. Other features are Sapphire’s Diamond Black chokes and coolers that are well known on some of their higher end GPUs, start, reset and reset BIOS buttons, voltage check points and a LED debug display. It will also be bundled with a modified version of Sapphire’s own TriXX software for overclocking, tuning and monitoring.
While relatively new, the P67 board is where things really get interesting. It will carry many of the same features as its X58 counterpart but will also sport Lucid’s Hydra technology allowing users to run a mixture of AMD and NVIDIA GPUs.
The press release goes on to state that both boards are in production with pricing and availability to follow.
