Ever since Android 5.0 ‘Lollipop’ saw its official release earlier this month, legions of Android fans have been wondering when the update will hit their device. As has been the norm, Google’s own family of devices will be receiving the update first, but fortunately, other companies are not going to be far behind. We learned last week that NVIDIA is planning to roll-out the update to its SHIELD Tablet before the end of the month, and LG also has a strong desire to be one of the first out the door with it.
According to the folks at Ars Technica, it looks like it’s the second-generation Moto G that gets treated to this lollipop first. In their case, it was with an unlocked model, so the regular locked-in one might not reflect the update quite yet. Also, this update doesn’t affect the first-gen Moto G, which is something I can confirm.
If you’re not sure what makes Android 5.0 special, I encourage you to refer back to the rundown I posted last month. And, if you’re not the lucky owner of a second-gen Moto G, don’t fret: Your update should be coming very soon. As long as you have a modern device, that is. Otherwise, you might have to dig deep and see if it’s coming at all.
