Steganos Releases Security Suite 2006

FRANKFURT, Germany, Oct. 11, 2005… Steganos GmbH, a leading provider of
security and privacy software for consumers and small to medium-sized
businesses, today announced the immediate availability of Steganos Security
Suite(TM) 2006 in the North American market.

Steganos Security Suite 2006 is the latest version of the company’s classic
encryption software package, which provides premium protection for users of
PCs and laptops. The user-friendly software now features the following new
features and enhancements:

• Potential Recovery of Lost or Stolen Laptops with Steganos AntiTheft(TM):
  This new component potentially can enable the police to track down a lost or
  stolen laptop. Once the feature is activated, users receive an ID number
  for their computer, and signals are routinely exchanged between it and the
  Steganos server. If the laptop is lost or stolen, users enter the ID number
  on a special Steganos Web site, and they will receive a protocol containing
  their most recent IP address. Police investigators can potentially use the
  IP address and protocol to help track down the thief or most recent
  recipient of the laptop.
• Protection from Identity Theft with Steganos AntiSpyware(TM) 2006: This
  newly incorporated module protects users from more than 100,000 adware and
  spyware programs, removing them from the system. It also protects users
  from identity theft by recognizing and destroying dangerous keyloggers that
  record keystrokes and forward passwords. Daily updates to the database of
  harmful programs are available at no cost for one year, and they now can be
  downloaded automatically. The program also enables users to conduct a
  real-time browser scan to prevent the manipulation of lists of favorite
  sites and deviations from their start pages. The browser scan is now up to
  400 percent faster than the one in the previous standalone version of the
  product. Other product features include the quarantine of suspicious files
  for secure analysis, and the prevention of installation of known spyware
  programs.
• Unlimited Secure Data Storage Featuring 256-Bit AES Encryption: Steganos
  Security Suite 2006 contains Steganos Safe(TM) 8, which now offers users
  maximum data protection with 256-bit AES encryption. The program permits
  users to securely store an unlimited amount of data through the creation of
  encrypted virtual hard drives that each hold up to 64 GB of information.
  Users can change the size of each individual drive at any time they please.
• Convenience of Using USB Sticks, Smartphones or Digital Cameras as Keys to
  Safe: With the Steganos Safe 8 module, users can open their encrypted
  drives with a USB stick, memory card, digital camera or ActiveSync-ready
  Smartphone. Simply connecting to one of these devices automatically
  decrypts users’ data. By using an ActiveSync-capable phone in conjunction
  with Bluetooth, the Safe can be opened in a wireless manner. The Safe
  closes automatically when users move away from their PC or laptop. The
  secure drive(s) also can continue to be opened by entering the user’s
  password.
• Rewriteability of Mobile Safes: The software’s secure data transfer
  feature, the Steganos Portable Safe(TM), has been enhanced with the ability
  to securely transfer data onto memory sticks and DVD dual layer (DVD DL), as
  well as onto CDs, traditional DVDs and memory cards. USB sticks essentially
  serve as rewriteable mobile safes whose content can be decrypted onto any PC
  or laptop without the need for additional software. When employing a USB
  stick, users can type in new information on another PC or laptop, and as
  soon as the stick is removed, all data is encrypted on it for secure
  transport to the original computer.
• Elimination of More Than 200 Internet and PC Traces: The Steganos
  Internet Trace Destructor(TM) 2006 module enables users to delete more than
  200 traces of past activity like browser history (including Firefox), AIM
  and other messengers, Google toolbar and desktop searches, Media Player
  music lists, search requests submitted to exchanges and much more. If so
  desired, users can opt to have trace destruction conducted unnoticed in the
  background while they continue to work. Moreover, new default settings
  enable them to select different types of traces (e.g., browser traces) with
  one mouse click for instant removal. And it’s now possible for users to
  save their own trace destruction settings.
• Automatic Entry of User Names/Passwords in the Password Manager: Steganos
  Security Suite 2006’s Password Manager has been enhanced with the ability to
  automatically enter user names and passwords from password-protected Web
  sites. If users want assistance in selecting a safe password, they can use
  the password generator feature to create one. The unsafe password rejection
  feature continues to warn users if they have selected a password that’s too
  common or guessable.
• Privacy for Favorite Web Sites: Users’ favorite Web sites remain private
  since their list of favorites is password-protected.

In addition to these new features and enhancements, Steganos Security Suite
2006 continues to provide users with the following protective functions:

• Ultimate Data Destruction with the Steganos Shredder(TM): This component
  provides users with three different methods of destroying unwanted data, as
  well as a deep cleaning shredder, which removes any vestiges of data that
  were previously deleted by other means.
• Steganography and E-Mail Encryption: Steganos Security Suite 2006 enables
  users to both encrypt confidential data and hide it in picture or sound
  files for secure Internet transmission. It also features an easy-to-use
  e-mail encryption function, which enables one-click creation of encrypted
  e-mail text messages and attachments that can be decrypted by the recipient
  with the mere entry of a password.

System Requirements

Steganos Security Suite 2006 operates on Windows 2000, Windows XP Home
Edition
and Windows XP Professional. It requires 27 MB of free hard-drive space for
installation and at
least 40 MB of RAM (60 MB are recommended). Additional hard-drive space is
necessary for Steganos Safe’s virtual hard drives. The NTFS data system is
required for complete use of 64 GB per hard drive. The FAT32 data system
provides up to 4 GB of secure storage per hard drive. The Portable Safe
requires a CD or DVD burner with corresponding software, as well as optional
and temporary use of up to 8.5 GB of hard-drive space for the data packets.
To use Steganos Portable Safe on a different PC, administrator rights are
necessary. Supported key devices include ActiveSync-compatible equipment
(Smartphones, PDAs) and all devices that recognize Windows as a writeable
device with changeable media (USB sticks, memory cards, digital cameras,
etc.). The Bluetooth short-range signal must be supported by the computer
and the Smartphone. Key devices are not included with the software.
