More choices for consumers is always a good thing, and Super Talent seems to agree with that philosophy. The company has just launched its the TeraDrive CT3 SSD. Sharp readers may remember it was just a month ago that Super Talent launched the TeraDrive PT3 SSD. Both are powered by the latest-greatest SF-2281 controllers and make use of the SATA 6Gbps interface, but choice of NAND is the primary difference.
Super Talent is positioning the PT3 as the performance model, while the new CT3 series are the price/performance alternative. The PT3 series appears to utilize ~30nm NAND, while the CT3 models will make use of asynchronous 25nm NAND. Super Talent advertises the CT3 as the perfect blend of price and performance, and backs it up with a rating of 550MB/s and 520MB/s for sequential reads/writes, respectively.
As with all SandForce drives the CT3 will include TRIM support and onboard garbage collection, and will be offered in 64GB, 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB capacities. Both PT3 and CT3 solid-state drives come with a two-year warranty. In addition to a press release, Super Talent has even posted a video of a CT3 in action on Youtube, available here.
