After months of rumor, OnePlus has finally taken the veil off of its OnePlus 2. Following in the footsteps of the immensely popular OnePlus One, this sequel carries with it a bold tagline: “2016 Flagship Killer”. Could that possibly be true? Well, its specs and features do give it a chance of being so.
As expected, the OnePlus 2 is a 5.5-inch smartphone boasting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 eight-core processor (1.8GHz), which itself utilizes an Adreno 430 GPU. The $329 model includes 16GB of storage and 3GB of RAM, while another $60 will boost you to 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM.
Other specs include a 1080p display (401ppi), a 13 megapixel camera at the back and 5 megapixel at the front, dual-SIM, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, a fingerprint reader, a 3,300mAh battery, and a USB-C type port. Its overall dimensions are 151.8 x 74.9 x 9.85 mm, and it weighs in at 175 g.
Unique to OnePlus’ phones is OxygenOS, a fork of Android designed to be light, fast, and offer some cool features, such as being able to double-tap the screen to wake the device. OnePlus 2’s OxygenOS is based on Lollipop 5.1.
If there’s an immediate downside of the OnePlus 2, it’s one that was shared with the original: the invite system is less-than-ideal. In fact, any invite system is less-than-ideal. At least this time around, many more phones will ship quicker, so if you’re in the market for the OnePlus 2, you shouldn’t have to wait too long.
