Products like Amazon’s Alexa and Google’s Assistant have helped prove that artificial intelligence can enhance our lives when used in the right way. Today, we can use our voices to set alarms, fetch the latest news and sports scores, order some food, get back to someone on a dinner date, and now, and perhaps most amazing, you can control your computer’s power supply.
That assumes you have one of Thermaltake’s Toughpower iRGB PLUS power supplies, which are currently available in 850W, 1050W, 1200W, and 1250W SKUs. To say these PSUs have the AI voice component built-in would be misleading, since it’s actually the complement mobile app that allows the magic to work. I can’t imagine anyone is surprised Tt skipped over making its PSUs internet-capable, because that’d be pointless.
With the DPS G mobile app, you can chat to your phone, which will then translate your voice to actions that can change the LED colors and behavior. It seems unfortunate that that’s where the voice functionality stops, but I can’t really think of other actions I’d expect (here’s the full list). Fan control isn’t really needed, since if there’s one component you shouldn’t take fan matters into your own hands for, it’s your power supply.
Beyond primitive voice control, the DPS G app allows users to pore over a bunch of data relating to the health and operation of the unit, and also allows them to shut off their PC remotely. A neat feature is that the app will also notify you of possible issues with the hardware, but that’s a feature you’ll hopefully never have to experience.
Because Tt’s iRGB PSUs take advantage of its Plus Sync capabilities, you could speak to your phone to not only change the color of the PSU, but the rest of your system, too. It’s just a pity that these new AI and voice features are not featured on any of Tt’s smaller models.
Prices for these iRGB PSUs start at $190 for the 850W, and go up to $400 for the 1250W. Fortunately, they’re more than just pretty colors, touting Platinum and Titanium 80 PLUS ratings across the line. That should be sufficient for your hardcore mining gaming.
