Since the launch of its ‘Tt eSPORTS’ line of gaming peripherals, Thermaltake has had some rather interesting ideas to help gamers have the best experience possible. One of the first to strike me was with its Challenger series of keyboards, which featured a small fan at either the left or right side to help keep your hands cool. While the implementation was respectable, the fan itself was far too small to be that effective.
With its “Black Element Cyclone” edition mouse, it seems like the company is going back to the fan idea, but this time with a mouse. But this implementation might be even stranger, as the fan clips onto the front, with air hitting your fingertips first. The fan itself actually looks pretty similar to the one featured on the Challenger keyboards, but it appears to be a little better designed. It can also reach speeds of 6,000RPM, which I’m quite sure has the Challenger beat (I’d hate to hear the whine from that).
So far, the mouse has received mixed opinion, and I admit I’m one of the skeptics. I don’t care if a fan makes a mouse look silly as long as it’s effective, but with a fan at the front, the air isn’t reaching the area where hands get their sweatiest – the palms. Ideally, for a fanned mouse to be truly effective, the top portion of the mouse would have to be a mesh and the fan would be installed inside. Of course, when dealing with small peripherals like this, it’s easier said than done to pull this off.
What do you guys think of Thermaltake’s latest creation?
