I posted earlier about the art of breaking into a prison from the outside, so it seems appropriate to shift the topic to hijacking and robbery. This story has to do with a game, but surprisingly has nothing to do with the gameplay. Rather, this real-life crime saw two thugs equipped with knives crash into a delivery truck, tear gas the driver (or drivers), and then make off with half a million dollars worth of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 games.
Yes, you just read that. It sounds almost unrealistic, given that it’s been an occurrence in many a Hollywood movie, but it’s true, and it happened in France (a location somewhat ironically featured in the game). With the tremendous hype leading up to the launch of the game, the thieves no doubt saw an opportunity to make a huge profit in a small amount of time. But with this out in the open, could they possibly sell the games without getting caught? It seems unlikely.
On a side note – the game releases today, and I couldn’t be more excited. Of course, there is a certain article I’m in the midst of preparing for next week that’s totally dominating my time, but I’ll see to giving the game as much attention through the week as possible, and aim to deliver an in-depth look at it next week.
