Following a couple of quick teases, Treyarch and Activision have released a reveal trailer for the next Call of Duty title, Black Ops III. As a fan of the original two Black Ops, this third iteration definitely has my interest piqued. Given the premise and what seems to be a copious amount of mechs, Black Ops III clearly takes place in the future, but not quite as far into the future as Ghosts. Watch:
There are a couple of standout features with Black Ops III, with the oneĀ reachingĀ out to me most being the ability to complete the game’s campaign with up to 4 players. The lack of this feature has puzzled me for a while, especially since the co-op missions in the Modern Warfare series were a ton of fun.
For fans of CoD‘s zombie mode, you may enjoy the news that the one in Black Ops III will have its own XP progression system.
Mark Lamia, studio head at Treyarch, says: “Black Ops III is without a doubt, the most ambitious project ever in the history of our studio. Since the launch of Black Ops II, we have been pushing ourselves to develop the best Call of Duty game we can for the millions of fans that continue to play our games, even to this day. We’ve been taking advantage of the three year development cycle by pushing our game design forward in every way imaginable, crafting all-new experiences, mechanics, systems and characters, all in the deepest Call of Duty that we’ve ever made. This really is like getting three games in one.”
That sounds good to me; let’s just hope it actually lives up to such promises. If the trailer wasn’t enough to whet your appetite, maybe the game’s key art and a flurry of 4K screenshots can help.
Black Ops III is set to come out on November 6 for the PC, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 4, and PC. On account of the fact that we were given 4K screenshots, that might just highlight the platform in which the game will be best experienced.
