Summer is right around the corner, so you’re probably wondering what excuse you’re going to come up with for staying inside. Welp, Valve has an answer, and it of course involves a Steam sale. It’s officially dubbed the “Spring Cleaning Event”, but I like to think of it as more of a “Games To Play This Summer To Avoid Sunburns” sale.
As usual, Valve has some event mechanics going on that you can take advantage of even without a purchase. You will just need to make sure you visit Steam each day during the sale to maximize your gains, which seem to largely revolve around emoticons and backgrounds for your Steam profile page.
While many games are on sale, it doesn’t feel as wide-reaching as usual, but if you’ve been wanting a game, you should check it out just in case. If you need an idea of something to play, Valve has cherry-picked some titles to be free for the weekend:
- Assetto Corsa
- Black Desert Online
- Dead by Daylight
- Don’t Starve Together
- Endless Space 2
- Grim Dawn
- Left 4 Dead 2
I’ll be a bit biased and say that Grim Dawn is highly worth checking out if you’re an isometric aRPG kind of person. The game seems to keep getting better, and because of this sale, the base version can be had for a mere $7.49 USD. Assetto Corsa is also highly recommended if you’re into realistic racing games. Left 4 Dead 2 is also a great game if you’re into zombie shooters, and have somehow avoided it the past 600 sales.
