About three weeks ago, Valve warned us that its ‘Get It Early’ supply of the Steam Controller and Steam Link hit the 35% sold mark, so if you wanted either one and didn’t jump on it right away, you’re probably going to be a bit upset to learn thatĀ 35% has justĀ become 100%. Supply is gone, poof, zapped, exhausted, fin.
Those who purchased these pre-release units will receive them about a month in advance of the official November 10 launch. Those who now want one or both of the products can go ahead and pre-order them, and receive them on or just after the official launch date.
As mentioned in a previous post, Valve is likely anxious to get both the Controller and Link into the hands of fans in advance of the “public” launch so that last-minute bugs can be ironed out. It goes without saying that the Controller in particular is a very interesting piece of kit, so it wouldn’t be too surprising if important tweaks were made to its firmware as a direct result of so many putting it to the test.
For the rest of us, we’ll just have to wait until these early access folk get their hands on the hardware so that we can truly see whether or not they are worth the cost-of-entry.
