There are many gaming chairs out there, but there are few that can handle the bulky, ever-aging (and expanding) gamers out there. Sometimes those requirements are met on scale but not on weight or both at the same time. Now, I’ve never been a small guy. I’m 6 foot tall with a large to x-large frame; my biggest complaint is that the average office chair is uncomfortable because the armrests are too close to my torso. Thankfully, Vertagear has heard my and many other cries for a comfortable gaming chair. The company has responded by providing us with its new “Plus Line” PL6000 Racing Series gaming chair.
A gaming chair in general has to excel in many different areas – weight supported, height requirement, structural limits, and above all, comfort. Most gaming and big & tall chairs are only rated for around 300 lbs; the PL6000 supports up to 200 kg or 440 lbs. These higher limits are achieved by utilizing a sturdy steel frame along with a heavy-duty aluminum 5-spoke base. For additional comfort the cushions are made from a high density foam and the open-cell PVC leather is designed to not trap body heat, even with prolonged usage, ensuring the chair will remain at a cool and refreshing level. Unlike other XL or big & tall chairs that recommend a max height of 6 foot and 1 inch, this chair can accommodate someone who is 7 foot tall.
The PL6000 also features a new easy-to-reach tilt locking mechanism, 75mm soft glide polyurethane wheels, adjustable seat height and back angle (like in a car), 4-direction adjustable armrests, neck and lumbar support cushions, and you have the choice to choose between 5 distinct color options.
This chair is expected to be available at most local retailers in late February. We’re also confident online retailers will see availability around the same time frame. The MSRP is in line other chairs of its kind, at $439.99. What really stands out here are the features being provided; the competition just does not offer as many features in the same class. This leads me to believe this might be the best option for the tall and heavy crowd, including myself.
