Walmart Cuts Smartphone Prices, Nice Deals to Be Had

Walmart has announced a healthy price cut for some of the most coveted smartphones offered today: A Samsung Galaxy S4 with a two-year contract now costs only $49; a 16GB iPhone 5s is down to $119; while the 5c is a mere $29. 

The Samsung deal, however, is only really attractive for the next couple of weeks, as the Galaxy S5 is set to be launched on April 11. Anyone who buys any Samsung phone with a two-year contract between March 9^th and March 22^nd will receive a free $50 Walmart gift card.

On the Apple side, these deals are quite good, considering that there isn’t a new model coming out any time soon – or at least if history remains on our side, there won’t be a new model until this fall.  However, this move will certainly have the rumor mill running at full speed with launch date speculations for the next iPhone.  If you have been waiting on the right deal to upgrade that phone, now is a good time to do so.
