There’s always some good stuff to come out of Netflix’s ‘Hack Day’, and last week’s event was no exception. One of the projects tends to stand out from the rest, though, especially if you’re a fan of classic gaming systems.
Created by Guy Cirino, Alex Wolfe, and Carenina Motion, ‘DarNES’ lets you watch Netflix on none other than an original Nintendo Entertainment System. The demonstration, seen in the video below, is brief, but it definitely gets the point across.
Unfortunately, there’s so much information missing here, such as how the NES gets online (if it actually does; it’s hard to tell if it’s grabbing live feed information), or if you’d be able to hear sound (there’s none in the example). Either way, it goes without saying that this is a cool project, although I think I’d quicker opt for a disc-based console over one quite so pixelated!
