Who Needs Graphics? Play a Game in Your URL Bar!

I’m not going to jump the gun and call this one of the simplest games ever created, but it has to be right up there. Called URL Hunter, the entire game looks to be coded with the help of JavaScript and simple HTML, and takes place entirely in your address bar… as in, the bar where you normally type in what webpage you want to go to and the one that rarely changes on its own.

In the game, you star as an ‘O’, and the goal is to kill all of the ‘a’ animals as quick as possible. It’s a simple premise, but this is a simple game. What’s interesting to me, is just how creative it is to take a simple URL bar that we all have, and put a game in there. While URL Hunter might be simple, there’s little doubt that more in-depth games could also be created… even if they’re just text-based.

In the end, URL Hunter isn’t a game that’s going to keep your attention for more than 30 seconds, but its implementation is without question, hard to beat.
