It’s been said in many of our past case reviews that choice is never a bad thing and it’s the consumers who benefit from market competition. Poised to throw its hat into the computer chassis ring is X2 Products, a company that I admit I haven’t heard of until now even though it’s been around for 15 years with several products to stand behind.
X2’s newest creation, the 6019 MOD Series chassis, is a steel mid-tower that shares the rugged, military inspired aesthetics that’s common place today. On the outside it features four 5.25″ bays (the bottom is actually a false bay), top panel USB 3.0 and 2.0 connections, headphone and microphone inputs, fan LED controls, a two channel fan controller and grommet-lined pass through holes for liquid cooling.
On the inside it supports micro-ATX and ATX motherboards, comes outfitted with two 140mm fans, a 120mm fan, and features a separate zone for the power supply along with a removable filter. It also sports six tool-free hard drive trays, a removable top hard drive cage, 7 PCI slots, and cable management and CPU cut outs on the motherboard tray.
While writing this post, I thought I’d keep digging into X2 since it seems to be a relative newcomer despite claiming to have been around for well over a decade. From what I’ve found it looks to be a division of Spire Corp, which I have heard of and maybe you too, seeing how they’ve released a ton of cases over the years along with a full lineup of fans, CPU, GPU and chipset coolers, external hard drive enclosures and other bits of tech.
Regardless of who makes it, there’s no sign of the 6019 at the major online retailers in North America yet, but when it does hit our shores it should run you about $108 USD.
