Not everyone needs a high-end mobile device, and for that reason, it’s a great thing that the market is chock-full of affordable models. In ZTE’s own lineup, phones generally range from around $50 and peaks at around $400. The phone in our sights for this post is the Tempo Go, a phone at an easy-to-stomach $80. That’s great as an inexpensive offering as a primary phone, or a secondary phone to use while traveling, or as a backup.
As the Tempo Go name suggests, this phone runs Android Go, a tuned version of Android designed for “entry-level” smartphones. And speaking of entry-level, what makes this phone fit that bill is its 480×854 resolution, 5 megapixel camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, and a 2,200mAh battery. Unlike certain high-end Android phones, the Tempo Go includes a headphone jack (yay).
Under the hood is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 210 platform, released originally in 2014. It offers four cores running at 1.1GHz. Other platform features include 802.11n Wi-Fi, GPU, and Bluetooth 4.2. Not present is NFC, but that’s no surprise. There is a microSD card slot, though, for those who’d like to add another 32GB to their device.
As of the time of writing, the Tempo Go is sold out at ZTE’s webstore, but based on the wording in the email we were sent, it doesn’t seem like it will remain that way for too long.
