ASUS Outlines Roll-out Plan for Windows-Based Eee PC
MEDIA ALERT – Fremont, CA ( January 16 , 2008 ) – ASUS North American headquarters today confirmed the plan to offer channel-wide availability of the Microsoft W indows XP-based Eee PC. The ASUS Eee PC defines a new category of computing device that offers an excellent Internet experience on-the-go for work, learn and play. With the additional offerings based on the popular operating system in both 4G and 8G models, consumers in North America will have a broader range of devices to choose from to suit their computing needs.
“The Eee PC has been a tremendous success since our initial launch in November last year, and our channel customers tell us they want to offer even more options to their end consumers. With the new Windows XP based offerings, we expect to engage with a broader customer base whose existing software and applications require a Windows’ based device” ” said Jackie Hsu, President of ASUS America Channel.
The Microsoft Windows XP-preinstalled Eee PC is expected to be available through ASUS North American authorized resellers by the end of Q1, 2008. The introductory models will be equipped with 4GB or 8GB of solid state drive (flash memory). Pricing information is not available at this time.
