Remember all the way back in September when we said Corsair had been working on some gaming grade peripherals? Well, a rather large box arrived today in one of our international testing labs, deep underground, and for once it wasn’t a trained monkey. Under my grubby, sweaty, tech-hardened hands lie Corsair’s brand new Vengeance keyboards and mice, the K/M60 and K/M90.
Rob has demanded under penalty of death asked for me to taunt you with pictures and tantalizing sneak-peaks at such hardware for your drooling pleasure. Corsair really doesn’t do things by half it seems, and these devices of bitter-sweet Vengeance were well worth the wait. First up, in the Red corner is the K60 and M60, for the FPS junkies.
The K60 is a keyboard for the fast acting first person killers amongst you. Super sleek, ultra responsive Cherry Red MX mechanical switches, battle-hardened aluminium top-plate, a set of contoured and textured keys of death, and a dedicated palm-rest to keep your hand where it’s needed, ready to kill.
The mouse lends itself to the snipers amongst you, taking a page out of Mad Catz book, with the inclusion of a fully dedicated kill switch, and by that I mean an instant DPI drop while the button is held down for precision aiming. Other features include adjustable weights for changing the center of gravity, a non-Philips sensor (no more z-axis shift!), and aluminium frame. The strange thing is, it’s like Corsair read the Cyborg reviews out there and fixed a lot of the issues people had, details of which to come soon.
In the Blue corner is the K90. Using a very similar base as to the K60, this time with a side panel with 18 programmable macro keys – for all you strategists out there and people with real lives, in MMOs. Instead of having the keys directly to the side, though, they are actually on a lower plane, reducing the risk of accidental presses while trying to find the CTRL key (right image above). There are other cool features such as adjustable back-lighting, on-the-fly macro recording, in addition to the Red switches and aluminium frame.
Partnered up with the K90, the mouse has 9 buttons on the thumb for quick access to more macros, or more likely, to be programed as the last few buttons on your ability bar that are out of reach of your left hand, those pesky buttons beyond ‘6’. Other features include on-board memory and hardware playback of macros to bypass certain game locks on software macros.
With all that, a more detailed write up of each death-machine will be coming in the weeks ahead, so if you have any questions about them, then let us know in our forums. Me…? I’ll be taking over worlds, destroying alien invasions, saving damsels in distress, and crying shamefully as I die from another bug-riddled raid in SWTOR. I put myself through this in your name people!
