You may have seen this keyboard popping up over various sites a couple months ago, and it’s truly an eye-catcher. Following on from the R.A.T. range, Mad Catz has released the S.T.R.I.K.E. 7 keyboard, and we were fortunate enough to get a sample in to review. To give you some idea as to what kind of keyboard this is, you need to read an assembly guide just to put it together.
This highly modular keyboard has more parts than a flat-pack piece of furniture. Things slide, click, crunch, pop, illuminate, and it all looks pretty – in an angular, aggressive, over the top gaming kind of way. There are extra keys dotted all over the place, and at the heart of the beast, an interactive touchscreen.
This keyboard will be partaking in a trial by fire over the next couple weeks. Can it withstand the greasy burn of my sweaty palms, the hammering from my battle hardened fingers, violently poked in places it never knew it had, the tortures of a messy eater… and maybe some gaming thrown in for good measure – hey, work rest and play.
Because I love you all so much, have a pic of it assembled and glowing in TG colors. That’s right, full RGB color control on the backlight.
We’ve also been told by the powers that be, Mad Catz will be dropping the Cyborg branding going forwards, simply because it has too many brands. This means all the mice too. While there is still Cyborg branding dotted over the packaging and downloads are still via the Cyborg website, things will be changing.
With all the features made available with this keyboard, something tells me this will not be a quick review. Also, the sample sent is indeed a German keyboard if you didn’t notice. The things I put myself through for you guys.
