Ultimate Ears Releases UE BOOM 2, Boasts Louder Sound & Longer Range

When we got our hands on Ultimate Ears’ original UE BOOM a couple of years ago, we admittedly didn’t realize that we were about to be wowed. Given its size, it was hard to expect much sound out of it, but Brett was truly impressed: “I haven’t heard this much noise come out of a package so small in all of my life – and I have a two-year-old daughter.”

Earlier this year, Ultimate Ears followed-up with the UE MEGABOOM, an even larger model, and now, it’s time to reiterate on the original, which is accomplished with the UE BOOM 2.

What’s new? UE BOOM 2 is 25% louder and offers improved sound in general, has had its range boosted to 100 feet, is completely waterproof, has a 15 hour battery-life, and introduces a new touch control that will let users skip or pause songs without the need of their smartphone. Also worth noting is that the UE BOOM is about the same size of a water bottle, so it can fit in your bike’s water bottle holder or clip to your bag with ease.

As with the original, you and a friend can pair up your UE BOOM 2s for even greater, room-filling sound. You’ll also be able to turn on the speaker through the mobile app, and use it as an alarm.
