Fable: The Lost Chapters Review

[PAGETITLE=Introduction] Fable: The Lost Chapters The path you choose will not only change the game play and quests you'll receive, but it will also affect all of the other computer characters. This could result in making them either happy to see you, or turn their heads and run in fear. The game also has a few great features that I must mention right off. The first thing that I noticed was the ability to communicate with the computer characters in an immature fashion. You can do this by using a wide variety of expression icons. You can: fart, burp, laugh, and dance. If you're a ladies man you can also flirt. Fable has more expressions as you progress in the game. Again, you will get evil or good expressions depending on your path you are taking. Fable has a unique naming scheme, although you can't choose your own nick name, there is a Title Vender that lets you appoint a title that you like for yourself (Ex. Rune master, Druid, Assassin, liberator.) During the story line your name will be Hero You are not the only hero, there is a few more hero's that will help you through out the gamethough. The aging system works rather weird I thought. I did a few quests then I was suddenly age 40 from age 35; I had grown a huge beard and was like an old man with white hair. Even though as you progress, the age of your character seems to have no effect on anything but your looks. Good news is there is a barber shop in town to get your complexion back the way you want it. Is Fable the lost chapters a warrior style game where you just hack and slash? No it is definitely not. Fable has the capability to choose what character style you prefer. What I noticed was that you could specialize on being a great powerful warrior, a stealthy Archer or be a spell caster. When I got around to it, I had specialized in all 3 types and I was able to do everything the game had to offer. [PAGEBREAK] [PAGETITLE=Gameplay & Conclusions] Fable has a fairy tale story line with audio for those of us gamers who love to be told a good story. Instead of reading them, you can also read over the quests you have already completed to make sure you never missed anything or got the wrong idea. Once upon a time there was a guild full of hero's who fought in arenas and then retired That's the type of story line this game packs. Don't get me wrong, its way more in depth than that and should keep you always wanting more. Fable has the ability to set your own controls using WASD to move while using the mouse for turning, aiming and zooming. If you don't like WASD they also have it set up to use the arrow keys instead. One negative thing I did not like was you could not use a controller, but after using the mouse for a long period of time you really get used to it. There are plenty of shortcuts on the keyboard to make playing the game a great experience The graphics are truly amazing. The video options Fable offers let's you fully customize your gaming experience with options like: Screen Resolution, Refresh rates, Anti-aliasing(x4), Texture detail, Mesh detail, Shadow detail, Effects detail and Vertical sync. With all these options I'm sure you can get Fable to run smooth and great for you, making the game look crisp, clear and outstanding. There are many tattoos your Hero can acquire. If you don't like the ones the game has to offer, you can create your own tattoos by making your own images. I recommend you to at least try your own; it has given me a few laughs and makes Fable that much better. In order to get your tattoos to show up in game, you must purchase them at a tattooist. If you have trouble there is a manual inside your game files to help you out. If you look carefully you should see my custom tattoo in this screenshot. Using headphones or speakers the sound in this game is good quality. You might want to turn off your music if you have any going and listen to what NPC's say about your hero. The sound of the expressions are amazing, every main character in Fable has there own different voice. You should be able to tell there voice's apart as you progress; this adds a lot to the game. There seems to be a lack of sound options, don't let this get you down. It will sound great. Fable: The Lost Chapters - Conclusion Fable The Lost Chapters is a surprisingly great game; I had a blast playing it. I would highly recommend it to everyone that likes a good RPG based game (Which is rarer on the PC, although this is really an Xbox game). Fable: The Lost Chapters almost feels like GTA without the cars and guns. Fable was fully worth my money spent on it ($44.99, newegg.com).
