Hardware Roundup for Jan. 18

Ahh, what a busy day with the launch of 3D Mark 06! If you are looking for a crazy looking case, and by that I mean odd, take a look at the review at DV Hardware. That case almost looks like something you’d break down walls with! For another review of my favorite memory every, head to Futurelooks where they are looking at the Corsair PT4000 2GB Kit. Also in the bizarre catagory, is a new mouse with the Falal1ty name pasted on it. Extreme Tech only gave it a 7/10, so maybe it’s not all it’s cracked up to be?

Vantec Vortex2 HDD Cooler Review

This Hard Drive Cooling System does actually work! Some hard drive cooling solutions do not really accomplish much in the way of keeping a hard drive cool. Many have small fans that do next to nothing. The reason why this one does work very well is because of the cross-flow blower fan. This fan pushes enough air across the hard drive to prevent overheating. Overheating is very dangerous for a hard drive and can result in system instability, data loss or worse. It’s very important to keep current hard drives cool, especially SCSI hard drives…

The Vortex2 is a huge step over the first one primarily because of looks. It looks to function better as well though. Check out the full review over at 3D Gameman.

Abit cuts debt but remains mired in uncertainty

DigiTimes has news on Abit’s plans to sell its office in Taipei for NT$1.7 billion. The cash will be used to retire part of the company’s loans and reduce overall debt, but there seem to be serious questions regarding Abit’s long-term health.

There have been some extreme losses here, so it’s going to be hard for them to pull out of this one. Check out the posting at Tech Report.

Indigo Prophecy Review

Atari and Quantic Dream have dropped upon us a real time thriller; but this game is no dark style game where your flash light is your best friend. Instead it starts off simple and makes you do the thinking and reacting. Indigo Prophecy really makes you, the player have all the control. Let’s get a little deeper, shall we?
